 The Balearic Islands lie sprinkled in the
western Mediterranean. The three main islands, Ibiza, Mallorca and Menorca,
are popular tourist destinations. As your ship pulls into the port of Eivissa (also known as Ibiza Town),
stand topside to view the impressive fortifications. Once docked, stroll
along the cobbled streets of the former fishing area known as Sa Peña, then
head for D’Alt Vila, the upper town. Walk along the old city walls and into
the narrow lanes of the old town. With its historic buildings and fine
mansions, D'Alt Vila is the very heart of Eivissa. As the sun arcs overhead,
pause in an outdoor café for a glass of chilled Ibizan sangria.

Pier InformationThe ship is scheduled to dock at Muelle de Levante, close to the town
center, but you may wish to consider taking a taxi high up into
the old town, so that you can then walk downhill toward the ship, as you
enjoy the shops and cafes along the way. Be sure to agree on the
fare with the driver before departing the pier.
ShoppingTypical resort wear and ceramics can be found in many shops located in
the town center and the old town.
CuisineEnjoy fried squid, crayfish, steamed mussels, fried peppers and grilled
meats in the many restaurffffffffffffffants and outdoor cafes along the seafront
promenade or around the town square. A glass of sangria or wine will
round out your meal nicely.
Other SightsPuig d’en Valls. The 18th-century windmill of Puig d’en Valls
shows the importance of windmills in the development of Ibiza. There is
a panoramic view over Ibiza Town from here.Cala Portinaitx. This beautiful bay offers numerous attractions.
The beaches are sheltered from the open sea by a much-eroded rock
barrier.Museum of Contemporary Art. This museum, housed in the fortress
of the upper town, features contemporary Spanish paintings and
sculptures.Beaches. Beachgoers may want to visit El Cavallet or Talamanca.
It is best to ask about recommended beaches. Some involve a bus ride and
a substantial walk. |
