 When the French chose this city 
as their administrative center in the early 20th century, it was laid out 
with wide boulevards, public parks and imposing civic buildings. Most places of interest are within walking distance of each other.  The Hassan II Mosque, completed in 1993, is among the largest in the 
world, boasting the tallest minaret. Some 30,000 of Morocco’s craftspeople 
labored for six years to create this most remarkable place of worship

ShoppingHandicrafts, copperware, pottery, embroidered clothing, carpets, and 
silver jewelry are of major interest. Bargain hard in the souks. The 
major shopping area is found around the United Nations Square and the 
Habbous Quarter. 
Cuisine Traditional dishes include roast mutton, harira (a spicy bean soup), and 
touajen tagine (a meat and chicken stew). Some of the best restaurffffffffffffffants 
are found along Boulevard Mohammed el Hansali and on the way to the 
beach resorts.   Please Note: Stay away from salads and raw vegetables. Make sure meat 
is cooked thoroughly and avoid local dairy products. Drink only bottled 
water and beverages.

  Casablanca’s beaches and exclusive suburbs are located to the east of the 
city along the Boulevard de la Corniche. This is a very trendy area, 
lined with four-star hotels, restaurffffffffffffffants and bars. GolfCasablanca Golf Club. The Casablanca Golf Club has an 18-hole, 
7011-yard championship Cal Olson designed course.Royal Dar es Salaam.  Commissioned by King Hassan II in 1970, 
Robert Trent Jones, Sr., designed this highly acclaimed course. Located 
in a forest among old Roman ruins, lavish grounds of mimosa, banana, 
cypress, eucalyptus, and towering cork trees line the fairways. |  |
